Coronavirus Protocols - to be updated soon
We are currently carrying out risk assessments and are refining our in-house protocols to ensure that we remain 'Covid Secure' upon reopening. Knockendarroch was always a very clean environment given the level of detail and effort that is put in by our housekeeping team but we are, as you would expect, enhancing hygiene and cleaning practices throughout the hotel as well as bringing in measures to allow us to meet social distancing guidelines. We will update the details below as they become available (early July) and you can be assured that the safety of our guests and staff will always be central in our thinking and we will be complying with Scottish Government guidance at all times.
We have a page with detailing some of the more interesting enhancements we are introducing, including a new restaurant extension for additional space, plexiglass screens in the restaurant, UVc and bio-chemical fogging machines.
Precautions taken at Knockendarroch (pre-lockdown)
Written 3rd March
Updated 16th March
In light of the unfolding global spread of coronavirus we would like to provide our guests with some information about what this means for your stay at Knockendarroch. Given the fluid nature of the situation, this page will be updated as necessary.
Firstly, we will at all times follow Scottish Government advice regarding minimising risks within the hotel and monitoring the health of our staff. We remain vigilant to the signs of infection and minimise the risk of catching or transferring the virus by employing scrupulous hygiene standards. In order to be as careful as possible we have now introduced the following precautionary measures at the hotel.
Staff health monitoring
All staff have been made fully aware of the signs of infection and procedures are in place for self-quarantine should the need arise.
Staff will have their temperature checked upon arriving at work until further notice.
Staff hygiene procedures
All staff are well trained in self hygiene as part of their on-going training at Knockendarroch. However, additional training has been given and staff are expected to wash their hands at regular intervals throughout the day in addition to normal routines. Alcohol hand gel has been provided for post-hand wash cleansing as an additional measure. Staff are fully aware that the use of gel is not a substitute for hand washing.
Hotel virucidal sanitising
We like to think that our hotel is already a very clean environment given the level of detail and effort that is put in by our housekeeping team. However, we have decided to introduce an additional virucidal sanitising procedure on all commonly touched areas. These include for example door knobs, handrails, hand wash sinks, light switches, phones and the reception desk. The sanitising procedure is a discrete task that will be carried out by a senior member of the team at least twice daily.
Hotel cutlery, crockery and glassware
Our hotel dishwashers are designed to sterilise all cutlery, crockery and glassware by rinsing at a temperature above 80 degrees Celsius.
Single use menus
We have now introduced single use menus at breakfast and dinner. Rather than being held in a sleeve, your menu will be a single sheet of A4 and will not be reused by subsequent guests.
We only ask that guests also follow the government recommended precautions regarding monitoring their own health and self hygiene procedures. We have alcohol sanitising gel at strategic points around the hotel which guests are welcome to use, however use of gel should not be seen as an alternative to hand washing.
If you have any questions, then please get in touch with the hotel.
