An amazing loop through some dramatic and beautiful scenery, travelling the high road alongside Loch Tay and passing by the flanks of Ben Lawers, the highest peak in Perthshire. Then carry on through the longest, loneliest and loveliest glen in Scotland – Glen Lyon, before turning to make your way back to base. From Pitlochry head down to Ballinluig then veer west through the winding village of Strathtay with its glorious woods and many fabulous houses. Travel on towards Loch Tay and drive alongside of this dramatic loch before turning right, up towards the high peaks of the Lawers mountain range. Continue through to Bridge of Balgie to start your journey through Glen Lyon – stopping off at the wonderful Glen Lyon Post Office which doubles as a fabulous tea room with amazing cakes. The picture postcard hamlet of Fortingall awaits you with its ancient yew tree, possibly the oldest living thing in Europe. Your route then sweeps back up towards Schiehallion then brings you down to the south road along Loch Tummel and back to Pitlochry.
