Ben Vrackie
Sitting almost on top of Pitlochry, Ben Vrackie is a lovely Corbett in the immediate vicinity of Knockendarroch and well worth the hike up. On a clear day the summit is a superb vantage point with views taking in the Cairngorms to the north, the Beinn a Ghlo range to the north-west and Schiehallion and Glencoe to the west in the distance.
You can easily walk from the hotel or save a couple of kilometers by parking in the carpark at the start of the walk. The return walk from the car park is around 10km and will take between 3 and 4 hours. The path is clear the entire way with the walk in leading you up through woodland and open moorland before hitting the hill itself. From the stunning Loch a’ Choire the route steepens and care is needed on the slippery rock path.
The Ben Vrackie walk can be extended in a couple of ways. Our favourite is to loop around Loch a’ Choire on the decent and come back to Pitlochry through the Bealach Pass. It adds about an hour.
